CONTROL PROJECT
CWA implemented a $47,400 project with eight property owners and volunteers. Workshops with hands-on training of Best Management Practices to prevent upland erosion and decrease sediment transport to the San Pedro River by 28 tons annually.
Projects included adding a 350 foot bank stabilization, replacing an undersized culvert, constructing 150 grade stabilizations such as loose rock check dams, gully plugs, and gabion baskets.
A one inch rain event transported over seven inches of sediment to the San Pedro River which is less than a mile away.
